“I play a merchant navy officer and will appear in an important sequence in the period drama. It’s a small but significant, quirky character with funny elements,” Kaushik told Mumbai Mirror.
Adding that him and Zafar were in Kirori Mal College, Delhi University together, Kaushik said to Mirror, “We were active in the theatre and the dramatics circuit at the time and during the shoot we would often reminisce about those days. When he offered me this part as captain of the ship, I immediately took it in.”
He shared that he has always had a curiosity with the high seas and his prior knowledge helped him prepare for his character.
He is also currently shooting for his comeback directorial Kaagaz, starring Pankaj Tripathi in the lead as a farmer.
Kaushik’s last film was horror comedy Gang of Ghosts, starring Sharman Joshi and Mahie Gill in 2014.
