Last year, Rohit Shetty’s Simmba rocked the box office and made more than Rs 240 crore at the box office becoming the highest grossing film of his career. Before the release, it was evident from the trailer that the movie is going to be a part of Singham universe. And in the climax of the Simmba, Rohit Shetty announced the entry of another cop, the ATS chief Veer Sooryavanshi. Earlier this year, the makers of Sooryvanshi dropped two official posters that carried the release date to be Eid 2020.
The festival of Eid has been synonymous with a Salman Khan release for almost a decade now, so to have an Akshay Kumar starrer on the same day created a lot of buzz on social media. And sometime later, Salman Khan also announced that his film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali titled Inshallah will have an Eid 2020 release. Which means we are going to witness a massive clash at the box office next Eid in Sooryavanshi vs Inshallah.
Recently, Rohit Shetty was asked about his take on the Sooryavanshi and Inshallah’s clash on Eid 2020. He told Bollywood Hungama,
Bahut time hai usmein toh. Hum log abhi soch hi nahin rahe uske baare mein. Because abhi toh film ki shuruaat hui hai. Let’s concentrate on the film. Abhi toh aisa hai ki everything is controversial. Controversy ka bhi charm khatam ho raha hai kyunki do do din mein kuch naya aa jaata hai. Toh pehle log ghabraate they, abhi bhi kuch log ghabraate hain but hota yeh hai ki 48 hours se zyada tik nahin pata koi bhi agenda. Toh agar kuch aisa hota hai toh ghar jaake so jaana chahiye, 48 ghanto ke baad aapko pata hai yeh saare kahin aur nikal chuke honge and then 48 hours ke baad aap niklo aur apna kaam karte raho.
(There is still a lot of time in the that (release of the film). We are not even thinking about the clash. We have just started th shoot and are concentrating only on that. Nowadays everything is controversial. Even the controversies are losing their charm. Earlier people used to be worried, there are still some who do get worried but now a controversy is done and dusted in just 48 hours. So one should just sleep over it and after 48 hours people’s focus will be on some other controversy.)
Also starring Katrina Kaif and Abhimanyu Singh in pivotal roles, Sooryavanshi will also see cameos by Ajay Devgn as Singham and Ranveer Singh as Simmba.
