The wait of all the fans who wanted to see Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan together in a film is finally going to come to an end. According to reports, the actress is being considered for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick 2. The pairing of Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone has been on the cards on many occasions, but nothing materialised.
There were also rumours that Deepika would be paired opposite Salman in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Sultan. Instead, Anushka Sharma was seen playing a wrestler in the film.
A source from producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s production house informed a leading daily that the never-seen-before jodi of Salman and Deepika might soon be seen on the big screen.
The source told the daily, “If you remember, Deepika was the first choice for Kick. But somehow, it didn’t work out. Jacqueline [Fernandez] was brought in and Kick changed the course of her career.” For Kick 2, Deepika’s role is being carefully developed. The source said, “Deepika can’t play just a typical Salman heroine. Her role has to be as powerful as Salman’s. Sajid is working on it, injecting heft into the female lead.”
There have been many occasions when filmmakers tried to bring in Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone together for a film but they never made it to the big screen together.
In Kick, which released in 2014, Salman Khan was paired opposite Jacqueline Fernandez. Apart from Jacqueline and Salman Khan, the film also starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui who played the main antagonist.
On the work front, while Salman is busy with Dabangg 3 and Bharat, Deepika attended the Met Gala 2019 in the US last night, after which she will be seen at the Cannes International Film Festival 2019. Deepika has Chhapaak up for release in January next year.
